Located in Yakjeon Alley in Jung-gu, Daegu, Dalcomhan Melonppang lives up to its name by captivating passersby with the sweet aroma of melon bread. Owner Choi Yong-seok, born and raised in Daegu, has been selling melon bread in the city for 12 years, earning love for its delicious taste and affordable prices. Melon bread originated in Japan and consists of a dome-shaped dough topped with sugar-coated cookie dough, which is then baked. It is called "melon bread" because the pattern on the surface of the cookie dough resembles a melon rind. Choi first started a bakery in 2010 under the name "Breadholic," but when sales did not meet expectations, he specialized in the popular melon bread menu and opened the first bakery in Korea dedicated to it. Thus, "Choi Yong-seok's Dalcomhan Melonppang" was born at Myeongdeok Intersection in 2011, and it has since relocated to Jung-gu, Daegu, where it currently operates under the name "Dalcomhan Melonppang." The pastel-toned exterior and the signboard featuring a melon bread intuitively showcase the shop's identity. This is CEO Choi Yong-seok's strategy to compensate for the shop's modest size. The moment you open the door and step inside, you are greeted by the sweet aroma of melon bread, instantly lifting your spirits with the cozy warmth unique to a neighborhood bakery. While most people associate melon bread with fillings like melon cream, Dalcom Melon Bread offers 15 different varieties that cannot be found anywhere else. The signature items are the Maple Melon Bread and the Raspberry Cream Cheese Melon Bread. The Maple Melon Bread features a harmonious blend of the distinctive flavor of maple syrup and a slightly bitter sweetness. The Raspberry Cream Cheese Melon Bread is highly recommended for its delightful combination of sweet and sour raspberry jam and salty, tangy cream cheese. The Original Melon Bread, staying true to the basics by not containing cream, provides satisfaction through its crispy, sweet crust and savory, chewy texture. If you are curious about these special melon breads you can't find anywhere else, be sure to visit Dalcom Melon Bread.
