The sound of crackling can be heard from somewhere. An orange glow often blooms in the kitchen of Orange Wood, a natural wine dining establishment. This is due to the orange light emitted when firewood burns at its hottest in one corner of the kitchen. Visitors to Orange Wood can experience a sensation that awakens their hearing, sight, smell, and taste. While there are several restaurants in Daegu that use charcoal for wood-fire techniques, Orange Wood is the first to cook based on the concept of wood fire. The primary reason CEO Kim Seong-ha started this natural wine dining establishment was the sustainability inherent in natural wine. It shares similarities with wood-fire cooking in that it does not use chemical treatments or artificial additives. Wood fire is a technique where a strong flame is created, and then the dish is finished over time using residual heat to infuse it with a smoky aroma. While waiting for their food, guests can select wines in front of the wine cellar or chat while gazing at the crackling fire in the open kitchen. The charm of this place lies in the unique experience you can have right before your eyes while waiting for a menu featuring a variety of ingredients such as lamb ribs, pomfret, duck, and pork jowl. If you have had another busy day, why not enjoy a moment of relaxation at Orange Wood, savoring smoky dishes paired with natural wine?
