Boiler Coffee, which opened less than a year ago, is breathing life into the quiet residential alleys of Bongmyeong-dong. The cafe's large, open wooden windows blur the boundaries between inside and out, serving as a natural window for neighbors to exchange greetings. The three owners—co-CEOs Son Seong-min and Baek Su-ji, and Manager Kang Bong-seok—first met as baristas in Jeju before relocating to Cheongju, Baek's hometown. The decisive factor was a suggestion from CEO Son, who fell in love with Cheongju's tranquil atmosphere while strolling along Musimcheon Stream and exploring the neighborhood. His aspiration to "create a cafe reflecting my own taste while I am still young" was realized in the space known as Boiler Coffee. The cafe is filled with vintage items that CEO Son loves. From Yamaha NS-1000 speakers produced in the 1970s to vintage lighting sourced from Denmark, Sweden, and Germany, as well as a 2007 Vespa motorcycle and Arabia Finland products from the 1970s and 1980s that serve warm hand-drip coffee and sweet desserts, the space is filled with unique items. It is enough to make the hearts of vintage lovers flutter. Along with this cozy space, Boiler Coffee’s confidently presented signature menu, the 'Boiler Latte,' has captivated the taste buds of regular customers. A Boiler Latte topped with a scoop of ice cream made from Indonesian Tahitian vanilla beans is paired with an egg tart made using the same vanilla beans to create a fantastic combination.
