Cafe Goof, which started in Jeonpo-dong, has entered its fourth year. CEO Kang Ho-young, who returned to Korea after unfortunately having to put his dream on hold due to COVID-19 while preparing to open a shop in Portugal, opened his first cafe in Busan in the winter of 2020. From the exterior, it immediately catches the eye with a vintage vibe that feels like stepping into a Brooklyn alley. The cafe's facade, featuring slightly faded gray walls, a jet-black door, and white window frames, is an attractive point too good to simply pass by. The New York-inspired interior is another reason why people frequent this place. In particular, the simplified flow of movement created by placing a large, spacious table in the center further enhances the New York café atmosphere. One of Goof's signature menu items, Oak Coffee, is cold brew coffee aged in oak barrels; it is characterized by a clean taste that is slightly bitter yet holds the smoky flavor of bourbon whiskey. Highballs are also available in various recipes, including the Goof Highball based on Hendrick's Gin, making it a must-try for highball enthusiasts. At first glance, the LP records filling the walls might seem like they are merely for display, but they are actually in use. The wonderful music softly resonating from the turntables serves as an attractive finishing touch that completes the special 'Brooklyn mood' of this place. The familiar yet unfamiliar New York café vibe emanating from every corner of the shop is said to be enough to surprise even foreign visitors. Since they also sell special merchandise items available only at GOOP, I recommend stopping by at least once before leaving Busan.
