Whether spoken as a number or in English, 777 somehow feels good; it is derived from the word 'chilling,' meaning to take a leisurely break . Opening the door to this shop, which sells lucky items for chilling, feels like stepping into a very old American vintage store. Filled with all kinds of goods, it is fun to browse while weaving your way around. The uniquely designed signboard, reminiscent of a video rental store on Miami Beach in the 1980s, is another colorful attraction. Owner Kim Seong-won, who settled in Daegu 14 years ago following a friend, worked selling vintage clothing for 10 years before running 777. Just as his interest in vintage clothing was waning, vintage accessories caught his eye. He thought that with vintage accessories, he could spend his entire life working with them and introducing them to people, finding joy in the process even when he grew old. Starting out that way, 777 showcases original vintage products based in the US and UK, including small items, LPs, vintage furniture, and jewelry. Selecting unique items that seem unlikely to be sold anywhere else is also CEO Kim's personal operating philosophy. He explains that the process of purchasing vintage items involves visiting occasionally to look around, ask questions, and learn, even if one does not purchase anything. This is because the desire to buy arises only when one sees analog and somewhat faded objects frequently. Saying, “We are growing old together, just like these objects, even at this very moment,” he hopes that all generations, regardless of nationality, age, or gender, can reminisce about their memories through 777. In this way, 777 and the items here are becoming ‘vintage’ itself, slowly and leisurely aging.
