When thin batter is spread on a machine resembling a turntable, round crepes are formed just like a spinning LP record. This is Butter Record, a crepe shop where the humming of those intoxicated by sweetness never ceases. Jeon Jae-wan and Lee Su-hyun, who previously ran a vintage shop, naturally came across crepes while spending extended periods in Japan. Eventually, last May, the twoโ€”passionate band members and surfing enthusiastsโ€”opened Butter Record as a space to express their passions. Having ventured into the dessert business and received a warm welcome from the start with their "Pudding Crepe," inspired by Japanese Showa-era kissaten, the duo researched a sticky and chewy batter and used French animal-based fresh cream to create a deeper flavor and differentiate themselves from other shops. Using high-sugar fresh fruits such as strawberries, bananas, and blueberries is also part of their efforts to elevate the taste of the crepes. Currently, Butter Record operates its main branch at Pusan National University and a branch in Nampo. In particular, the Nampo branch sells beverages such as melon soda and coffee that pair well with crepes, making it perfect for those looking to take a break and recharge with sweetness. Jeon Jae-wan and Lee Su-hyun hope that Butter Record will become more than just a crepe shop; they envision it as a space for relaxation. People weary from their daily lives can wait while smelling the aroma of their custom-ordered crepes browning to perfection. And the moment they receive the crepe of their imagination and take a bite, voices of excited cheers will echo through the streets of Busan like a song.
