Q. Please give us a brief self-introduction.

Jeonghyeon | I am Jeonghyeon Kim, responsible for brand sales management at the TRC Seoul Zone in The Hyundai Seoul. I play a role in connecting brands and customers through space.

Q. What kind of place is TRC Seoul?

Jeonghyeon | TRC Seoul is a place that promotes a healthy running culture. Through various services, we help you find the running style that suits you and match you with the products you need. Centered around 'running,' it is a place that brings together everything from products and experiences to the physical space and the potential for community connection.

Q. This might be random, but are you a runner, Jeonghyeon?

Jeonghyeon | I started running after taking charge of TRC Seoul. Becoming a runner myself allowed me to understand the concerns customers have when choosing running shoes, the information beginners need, and why runners place such importance on the experience of running together. I started running to do my job well, but before I knew it, I was so hooked that I even ran a 10km marathon recently.

Q. As a runner and a representative of TRC Seoul, are there any running trends that stand out these days?

Jeonghyeon | The people who visit here are diverse. It includes not only those who have been running consistently, but also those who have just started, and even those looking to improve their physical fitness through exercise. I feel that people are taking it a step further than simply purchasing good products. I've noticed that customers want products that are connected to performanceโ€”specifically, helping them improve their running skills or achieve their running goalsโ€”rather than just focusing on functionality. Also, there are definitely more people who view running as a lifestyle rather than just a simple exercise.

Q. As someone working in the retail industry, what do you think is the significance of operating zones specialized for specific lifestyles within a department store?

Jeonghyeon | I believe this specialized zoning is the future direction for how department stores organize their spaces. While in the past it was important to display and sell products attractively, I see the approach of designing the customer experience as more appealing now. Of course, from the perspective of managing the space, it is true that we have to pay much more attention than when operating a general brand store. We have to constantly monitor trends and customer experiences. However, I think that is precisely why we can connect with customers on a more intimate level.
